A question of clinical usefulness
Not every patient requires broad genomic profiling. In many early-stage cancers, established treatment pathways are well defined and additional molecular information would not change the plan.
Testing is most valuable when a result could realistically influence a decision — in advanced or recurrent disease, when the diagnosis is uncertain, or when eligibility for a targeted approach or trial is being considered.
Choosing the right test
The scope of testing matters. A single-gene test, a focused panel and comprehensive profiling answer different questions at different costs and turnaround times.
The choice is made in clinical context, and the report still needs expert interpretation to be useful.
